Family TV Room

The brief was to create a relaxed TV viewing space that housed a large daybed purchased in India as well as a drum kit. The room also needed to incorporate a lovely black and white inlay sideboard and a small table to hold food and drinks when necessary.

Given the large nature of the day bed, it was decided that the interiors styling of this room would be neutral and calming, and work for both children and guests alike. An Indian checked bedcover was used to cover the daybed along with a variety of neutral patterned cushions. A large silver mirror was used in the space above the daybed to maximize reflection and space. A vintage map of India has been used on the neighbouring wall. Furthermore, a neutral coloured patchwork rug was used to ground the space around the day bed. A 3D greenery panel was used above the drum kit to add a splash of green to the proceedings. Alongside the drums, is a Ganesh statue playing the Tabla that was purchased in Chor Bazaar in Mumbai. A low coffee table with a glass top was placed in front of the daybed so as to not take up much visual space in the room. It has a marble base that was perfect for magazines, drum sticks and the collection of remotes housed in a vintage brass bowl. On top of the table is an old brass lamp holder that has been used as a candle holder. It has Nandi being protected by a Nag sculpted in brass and the level of detail is stunning. The stunning inlay sideboard was the perfect place to create a pretty vignette on top with a glass vase full of seasonal flowers, a lovely perplex lamp, another Indian map and a small collection of candle holders. Underneath the sideboard is home to a large marble bowl that is perfect for holding yet another candle.
