Designer's notes
These lovely rooms belong to my client who reached out and owing to her busy schedule, wanted some help with the interior style, decor, sourcing of additional furniture, art and accessories for these rooms. The rooms already had the elegant sofas in place and we moved forward from that point. I was keen to achieve two contemporary classic rooms that did justice to the lovely fireplaces that take pride of place in both rooms. My client has a deep connection with Africa and already owned some lovely busts and carved pieces that have been used in the décor of the rooms. I sourced two pieces of stunning cartographic art (hand-gilded using the details of the original passports of the countries at a given time in history) for the two sides of the gorgeous fireplace. On one side is a 1960s Cold War passports map version and other side is the current map representation of the passports of Africa. These beautiful pieces help set the mood for the styling of the rest of the room. Two multi-head floor lamps were placed at either end to highlight the art and make a grand symmetrical lighting statement in their own right.

I sourced a beautiful geometric green rug to define the space and we added two matching coffee tables placed back to back to provide ample table-top space for ease of entertaining. Teardrop trays have been added to the coffee table at opposite ends to house accessories such as vases and candles to elevate the style statement of the room. Gorgeous plump velvet piped cushions and a stunning geometric cushion finish off the sofa styling. In the adjoining room, the client was keen to incorporate colour into the room in the selection of cushions and side tables. I suggested these striking multi-coloured geometric cushions in various sizes and prints. They worked perfectly with her Buddha statue and help turn the beautiful garden facing room into a calm yet striking sanctuary for the family. I then sourced two brass side tables to flank the sides of the fireplace - the colours work perfectly within the room and the gorgeous garden beyond.
Client testimonial
To say Isha delivered is an understatement. From the beginning, Isha centred the project on how my family wanted to use our formal and TV area not just I but all the members. It was a perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality which has given us a space that we enjoy every day. I am so grateful to Isha for introducing me to colours that I would not have considered and absolutely love. I can honestly say the soft furnishings and accessories I would not have found myself yet they reflect my family. The article pieces will be with us for life. They are nod to my heritage while being timeless. Thank you Isha for completing our family space which we all love to use. I can wait to start my next project with Isha for the magic touch.
