Designer's notes
My clients have recently built a new home and wanted me to design and style their new lounge. As the home had a separate family living room, they were keen to utilize this space as a formal entertainment room. The clients wanted the room partitioned in a way that there was enough space for adults and children to socialize in the same space if necessary. They were also keen that we maximize seating so that there was plenty of room for multiple guests and long conversations. The decision was made to divide one-third of the room for a separate smaller conversational area and concentrate on the two thirds for adult entertaining. Given the long nature of the room, we decided to create a dramatic entry focal point to the room. The gorgeous console table forms the base for a beautiful custom painting (inspired by Musli). I always advocate that bold art can transform a space and this painting is a testament to the captive power of artwork in creating beautiful interiors. We further dressed the console table with a decadent marble lamp and some gorgeous flowers to highlight the flowers in the artwork above. My client loves metallic colours so we decided to keep the colour palette of the room concentrated on similar sophisticated metallic hues - set off by a copper-toned highly textured Venetian plaster wall. We added two beautiful flush light fixtures that create a dramatic effect in the evening and highlight the metallic colours below. The result of our efforts is a lovely formal entertaining space that is a pleasure to be in. I am so happy with the results of our hard work and I hope you enjoy it as much as my clients do.
